Thelma and Calvin Honeycutt both spent their lives working at Cannon Mills, later known as Pillowtex. Thelma worked in the No. 6 weave room from 1952 until July 30, 2003. She grew up on a farm and went to work at the mill because "that's all there was back then." Calvin Honeycutt worked at the mill until he retired in 2000. Both are retired now and spend their summers watching the Kannapolis Intimidators minor league baseball team. They plan to live out their lives in the city and are happy to see the North Carolina Research Campus, but know it will never benefit them directly.
